Alaskan Klee Kai Association of America and Alaskan Klee Kai Club of America: If you are thinking about adding your very own Alaskan Klee Kai into your life, please consider becoming a member of the AKKAOA & AKKCOA. Being a member of these clubs will provide support for our breed and provide health research. AKKAOA and AKKCOA help our breed immensely and depend on memberships to continue their hard work. There are benefits & perks to joining both clubs, but the most important benefit is helping the future of the Alaskan Klee Kai.
BUYERS BEWARE:
BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU PURCHASE FROM!
There are MANY people out there falsely advertising their puppies as pure bred Alaskan Klee Kai as well as some pet stores. A side note to that, you should never be able to find a pure Alaskan Klee Kai puppy in a pet store. This breed is uncommon and the AKKAOA & AKKCOA community do their best to keep track of their dogs and breeding dogs to prevent this from happening. These dogs are either Alaskan Klee Kai mixes or a mix of different breeds that resemble the Alaskan Klee Kai.
Here are a few tips to finding your own Alaskan Klee Kai and ensuring you are getting from a reputable breeder:
- Check out the AKKAOA Breeder Directory (AKKAOA.org) There you will find a list of reputable breeders in different states.
- AVOID WEBSITES like Lancaster puppies and Green Field puppies. These are NOT legit Alaskan Klee Kai or Alaskan Klee Kai breeders. Despite how cute their photos are and what their claims are that their dogs are pure bred Alaskan Klee Kai, They are NOT and almost always mixed breeds. Don't be fooled.
- There are FAKE registries, so many scammers will use registries that will say the dog is Alaskan Klee Kai, but they are not. They will register any breed as anything these sellers want - even if it's a mixed breed they want to be written down as an Alaskan Klee Kai. The ONLY reputable acceptable registries for Alaskan Klee Kai are United Kennel Club and American Kennel Club FSS. If the seller does not have UNITED KENNEL CLUB or AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB FSS - You are being scammed!
- Find a breeder you can make a good connection with. Buying a puppy is a lifetime commitment, your breeder should always be there for you through out your dogs life.
- Don't be afraid to ask questions! A good breeder will answer any questions you have with ease
- There are some breeders that do and do not ship puppies, if you aren't finding a breeder near your area, try exploring breeders from other states. You are bound to find one you will be comfortable with and that will work with you.
- Most importantly - have patience! Many Reputable breeders breed as a hobby, have jobs, and lives. There are usually wait lists. It is worth the wait to bring home a puppy from a reputable and responsible breeder.
